Below we have tried to answer some of the more common questions that come up when people contact Jon. Please have a look. If you have a question that hasn't been answered here, we encourage you to contact us, and we would be glad to respond to you.
What are Jon's current projects? Jon is currently the pianist and co-composer in the dotEXE Quartet, a modern jazz quartet; the pianist in the SuperSingers, a Montreal vocal jazz ensemble; the film composer for S.S. Blue, a short film based in L.A.; accompanist and T.A. for Ranee Lee, a nationally respected jazz singer. Jon also has many ongoing duo and trio projects, and is in the studio on average once a week. Jon recently completed a special arragement of Joni Mitchell's composition "Both Sides Now" for the McGill Jazz Orchestra Joni Mitchell event, which Joni herself attended. The event was telecasted across Canada by CBC Radio and CBC Television. Look for upcoming solo appearces and a special new trio project, both coming soon. Does Jon have any classical (traditional) training, or does he just play and write jazz? Since he was a child, Jon has had lots of classical piano training. He has more recently furthered his classical piano skills while studying with Professor Tom Plaunt at McGill University. Jon has also had 4 years of experience accompanying a choir, and now works as a private accompanist for Montreal vocal teacher Madelaine Palmer. Jon has also scored a feature length film entitled "Expiration" and is now working on a new 35 mm short film based in L.A. |
